MovAiD is a cross-disciplinary project joining a consortium of companies under Horizon 2020 EU Program. It aims at developing technologies assisting manufacturing of intelligent, “passive” and highly personalized kineto-dynamic equipment (Movement Assistive Devices) to enhance or compensate human movements, aiding the disabled, elderly and workers.

The Movement Assistive Devices (MAD) concept comes from the ambitious exoskeleton designed for selected populations such as paralytics and soldiers, with the alternative approach to design and manufacture a solution featuring mechanical components and kinematic custom made parts inheriting the personalized fitting features from orthosis. Other inspirational devices, especially in terms of application markets, are mobility aids, generally used by elderly people. The possibility to combine the personalization approach with a functional dynamic behavior of the equipment, has brought other important applications, such as safety equipment to assist workers in dangerous labor activities, and assistive orthosis to guide children affected by motion deficits, willing to have an autonomous and independent life.
